Hung Gar, also known as Hung Kuen, is a traditional Chinese martial art from the Southern Shaolin styles with a history of being practiced at the Shaolin temple for hundreds of years. Today, it is recognised as one of the largest southern Kung Fu systems and is characterized by strong stances and forearm techniques. The practice includes a combination of Fitness and Wellness, Chi Kung, and Self-defence.
Philip, Chi Fai LEUNG is the Founder of Hung Kuen Academy UK, grew up in Hong Kong. Philip is a martial artist and stunt performer, whose main body of work comprises Kung Fu genre films produced in Hong Kong. He is also a highly regarded Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) specialist and master of Hung Gar. With his extensive knowledge and expertise in this Traditional Chinese Martial Arts, Philip is dedicated to preserving and promoting its rich cultural heritage. He has a deep understanding of the history and significance of Hung Gar, and shares this knowledge through his consultative services and workshops. Philip's passion for this art form is evident in every aspect of his work, from his carefully crafted teachings to his dedicated preservation efforts.
